The documentary film “Beyond the Bricks” follows two African American young men struggling to stay on track in their local schools. This solutions based film includes interviews with scholars Dr. Pedro Noguera (NYU) Dr. Ivory Toldson (Howard Univ), Dr. John Jackson (Schott Foundation) and local community organizations working with young people. The film has screened all over the US and London and is now available along with guides for discussion through education distributor TWN.
Produce! Create! Innovate! (PCI) is an after school program that uses critical digital literacy, video production, community advocacy training in conjunction with STEAM components to build fellowship practices among young men of color while developing positive connections to their communities.. Through media analysis and video production the curriculum encourages critical interrogation and meaningful self-reflection, preparing 13-19 yrs olds to re-imagine their own narratives and chart a course for their futures .
